MEPS to expand presence at fast-growing UK Metals Expo

12th March 2024

MEPS International will once again lead the steel price debate when it returns to the UK Metals Expo in six months’ time.

The growing event, which is billed as the only event that brings the entire metals supply chain together with the engineering, manufacturing and construction sectors, will take place at the NEC Birmingham on September 11 and 12.

Following the success of last year’s panel debates, MEPS's head of price analysis and forecasting Kaye Ayub will once again host discussions on the carbon and stainless steel sector.

Looking ahead to the UK Metals Expo 2024, Ayub said: “Last year’s UK Metals Expo was a huge success, with some excellent discussion during our panel debates in the Supply Chain, Trade and Policy seminar theatre.

“Not only that, the MEPS stand was extremely busy throughout the event. It’s a great event for networking and engagement and we’re really excited to be back for 2024.”

Doubling in size

Alongside an exhibitor list that is expected to grow for 2024, MEPS’s presence will also expand. Its stand, at location B50, is twice that of the busy site it occupied last year.

Among the major global carbon and stainless steelmakers exhibiting at the event are: Acerinox, Aperam, ArcelorMittal, Marcegaglia, Outokumpu, Tata Steel and voestalpine.

In a format that mirrors that of the 2023 event, four seminar theatres – entitled The Big Issues, Sustainability and Circular Economy, Innovation and Technology, and Supply Chains, Trade and Policy – will host a range of presentations and debates.

They will provide insight into topics that affect primary metal manufacture, processing metals, metal fabrication, machinery, engineering, surface coatings and recycling.

MEPS’s Kaye Ayub is currently compiling a shortlist of panellists for her on-stage discussions. She is keen to hear from individuals open to suggesting possible topics as part of her planning for the event.

Anyone open to the possibility of joining the UK Metals Expo panels, or keen to suggest a compelling subject from the stainless or carbon steel sectors, should email MEPS at press@meps.co.uk.
