MEPS regional average stainless steel indices for Asia are derived from an arithmetic average of prices in ChinaJapanSouth Korea and Taiwan. Prices are collected in the appropriate local currency and converted into US dollars to provide a basis for comparison. Indices are calculated by comparing the current price with the corresponding value in April 1997. This base value has an index number of 100.
