Webinar to discuss MEPS’s 5-year steel price outlook

21st November 2025

Buyers of MEPS's Steel Price Outlook 2025 report will be able to interact with its creators in a special live webinar exploring the publication's five-year forecasts, to 2030.

MEPS rescheduled its Steel Price Outlook webinar due to popular demand and will now host the online event at 3pm on December 4. Attendees will hear discussion from MEPS’s head of price analysis and forecasts, Kaye Ayub, and market analysts Jon Carruthers-Green and Laura Hodges, prior to a live Q&A session.

The webinar is open to anyone who has purchased a copy of the Steel Price Outlook, which details steel price forecasts for Asia, Europe and the United States, extending to 2030. The report also features five-year forecasts for raw materials costs, including iron ore, coking coal and ferrous scrap, alongside executive summaries of future price trends and the factors affecting steel supply and demand.

Looking ahead to next month’s webinar, Carruthers-Green said: “So much has happened in 2025 and we're expecting even bigger market changes as we move into 2026 and beyond. I'm really looking forward to the webinar as a chance to walk the audience through the thinking and assumptions behind our latest five-year forecasts and sharing what we see coming next for the global steel industry.”

As well as providing a long-term outlook for steel market participants, MEPS’s Steel Price Outlook report also reflects on a 2025 trading period which has been defined by uncertainty. Trade flows have been redefined by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs on steel and other products.

Meanwhile, global steelmaking overcapacity continues to overwhelm developed nations where demand is currently weak. In Europe and Asia, trade defences are on the increase as part of efforts to protect domestic steelmakers and support steel prices.

Ayub said that uncertainty had become a “defining feature” of many global steel markets, this year. In this uncertain trading environment, she said: “In times of such uncertainty, ensuring that you have access to the most accurate, independently researched steel market insight has never been more important.”

MEPS managing editor Tom Sharpe, who will host the Steel Price Outlook webinar on December 4, said: “A huge amount of work goes into creating the Steel Price Outlook report and the team is really keen to discuss its contents with those who have bought a copy.

“There are so many factors currently creating uncertainty in global steel markets, and the outlook for demand and prices, that I know the discussion will be compelling.”
