Steelmakers eager to ‘maximise sales’ at fastener fair

8th October 2024

MEPS representatives will be sharing steel market insight at Milan's International Exhibition for Fastener and Fixing Technology later this month.

Market participants across Europe expect the two-day fair (October 29-30) to be the starting point for 2025’s steel contract negotiations with key global stakeholders in the fastener sector and associated industries. MEPS steel market analyst Chris Jackson will be in attendance to discuss the current European steel market with attendees as these conversations get underway.

Over 200 companies will be exhibiting at the event, also known as Fastener Fair Italy, which will take place in Hall 3 of the Allianz MiCo convention centre, in Milan’s Citylife district.

Speaking ahead of the event, Jackson said: “Milan will provide the ideal forum for key players in the fastener industry to meet and outline their plans for the next year and beyond.

“Amid a weak trading environment throughout the continent, European fastener companies will be looking for price support from suppliers as they face fierce competition from rival manufacturers, particularly those in Asia.”

Jackson will be available for consultation meetings throughout the International Exhibition for Fastener and Fixing Technology.

MEPS gathers first-hand steel price data and market insight through regular conversations with buyers and traders across the world’s major markets. Jackson is keen to forge relationships with potential research partners at this month’s exhibition, as well as sharing some of MEPS’s insight with fellow visitors.

Commenting on the current state of Europe’s steel market, Jackson said that doubts remain over future activity levels in many major steel-using industries, including the construction and carmaking sectors. Nonetheless, he is confident that steel sales will be a key topic of conversation at the exhibition

“Steel manufacturers in Europe will be keen to maximise sales to fastener companies, in order to plug potential shortfalls in their production schedules,” he said.
