MEPS regional average indices are derived from a weighted average of prices for various steel products consumed in a specified industrial sector. Indices are calculated by comparing the current price with the corresponding value in January 2007. This base value has an index number of 100.
Shipbuilding Sector - incorporates an average figure for purchases of steel for container ships, dry bulk carriers, tankers, and general cargo vessels.
